Painting in IB Visual Arts class at Marymount International School Rome

From Art, Music and Dance classes in the Early Childhood Center to Graphic Design, IB Music, Theater and Visual Arts, Marymount's Art Department promotes student creativity, critical thinking, self-expression through a variety of modes of communication and an informed awareness and appreciation of the arts in all their forms.

Early Childhood classes incorporate drawing, painting, singing, dancing and other forms of creative expression to reinforce the curriculum. The students also take classes led by the Elementary School music teacher during which they have opportunity to play musical instruments and learn about musical concepts such as melody and rhythm. Several times each year the students take to the stage to perform for parents in colorful and heartwarming productions.

Students in the Elementary School follow regular music and art classes during which teachers help them discover and refine their artistic talents. Throughout the year, the students share their abundant talent with the school community by presenting art exhibitions, concerts, recitals, and fully staged productions.

In the Secondary School, students take classes in music, drama, the visual and graphic arts. Music students enjoy opportunities to perform for the school community during the Secondary School's annual Christmas Concert and spring concerts. Similarly, drama students may participate in the Fall Play and Spring Musical. Students following the International Baccalaureate program may also take courses in IB Visual Arts and exhibit their work to the public during the annual IB Art Vernissage.

Marymount is also a center for the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
